I would like to add a small form at the bottom of a publish listing which will allow the user a quick way to email the agent who is displaying the property. I guess with a simple formmail script it could be quite easy to do. My concern is with email harvesters. If i was just to set it up so RM inserted the correct email address for the agent via a homepage field the surely that email would be exposed, and inundated with spam. Does anyone know of a way to set this up so as to protect the agent email adress. A regular formmail script has this feature, but if i have 50 agents , all with different email address, how can i do this? Many Thanks

Hi buscar, Thanks for the post! I'm not actually sure what the best way to do this with a formmail type script will be, perhaps someone in the community will have a good idea of waht may be possible here. :) Cheers, Chet Woodside - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi...I successfully set this up last winter, and it does what you want, i.e. to prevent email harvesting yet forward inquiries to the email of any number of real estate agents. It works great for me, and I have contact forms at the bottom of each listing page. Here's a live example: http://www.doorcountyvacationlodging.com/cgi/listman/exec/search.cgi?view=9&template=_publish_listing_sales_dcvl.html I'll be glad to share the method via private email if you wish. It was a complex setup and the Vancouver people helped me with it. I could post a tutorial if there was enough interest in it. The beauty is that email addresses never appear in any of the code. If you take a peek at the code on the web page I refered to above, you'll see how I passed the mail code to the listings and then to Formmail. To establish the mail code field, you'll have to set up a superuser field for each listing (in Admin) in order to assign such code. Each agent has their own mail code. Follow the Interactive Tools Article Manager tutorial for "Featured Listing", but instead of using the new field for turning on or off featured listing status, just use that field to assign the mail code. No one sees nor can change the mail code unless they are a superuser. I set the mail code up for each agent after they have entered their listing(s). This way I know it is correct. They do not need to know the code. It simply tells Formmail where to send the contact form at the bottom of each listing page. Does this help you get started? It goes without saying that you'll need an account with Formmail to store the valid email addresses...but these accounts are low cost and encrypted. The end result is that no email addresses for agents are stored on my server, just codes which Formmail handles. Of course if an agent puts their email address somewhere in their copy for the listing, that's their choice. Many agents do this in spite of spam issues. At least you are offering privacy should they desire it. By the way, Formmail now has the security field where you have to type in the letters you see on the screen to prevent automated submissions. This is a great enhancement since automated submissions where previously getting through and were annoying! You can sign up for Formmail at www.formmail.com Let me know if you need more help!
