Archiving Properties Can't Post

Can anyone recommend a good way of archiving properties, rather than just deleting them. I am pretty sure that this is not a built in function, but would be happy to be proved wrong! Sly

Thanks

Si

Re: [Si] Archiving Properties [In reply to] Can't Post

This is a feature I hope to see added someday. My company specializes in lease properties and the same ones come up again every year or two. Would be nice to be able to mark a listing "inactive" instead of deleting it. Then a year later when the tenant moves out, we could just activate it, retaining the photos and specs and making any changes that would be needed.

To answer your question, maybe you could save the html file of the listing (ex: 00144.html) and at least the details would be available for future reference after you delete the listing.

Hi guys,

This very feature is being QA'd for the next version update - each listing will have an option to be taken offline. To be honest, I've only myself had a fleeting glimpse at this new functionality, but I know you'd be interested in hearing about it.

And no news about a release date, just yet. :-)

On the other hand, I use a proprietary software for managing rental properties and they have been promising features and upgrades since **1998** that I still haven't seen. It's a real joke. I don't even bother paying attention to anything they say. I'm like "Yeah, whatever, just tell me after it's ready".

So I actually see value in IT keeping tight lipped about release dates. Then they don't feel pressured to be meeting a specific deadline and possibly put things out that are not ready (that never happens in the software industry now does it!).

It's much more exciting to get an email that says "version xxx is available and ready" after it is actually done. I do like to know however that certain things are being worked on. The "inactive listing" feature is a big one for me and I'm ok knowing that I'll have it someday. The only time I really want to hold a developer to a strict deadline is if I'm paying extra for that specific upgrade or feature.

Ben

Great news and I am with Steve on this one (develop it properly and then release it). I will look forward to seeing it when it is good and ready, keep us posted!

Cheers

Re: [Si] Archiving Properties [In reply to] Can't Post

As you've noticed, we don't post release dates - just an announcement after the fact that the software has been released. There are so many situations that can delay the development of a software product.

We don't want you to rely on a future version of the software, and then let you down when something unforseen happens. I know it would be great to tell your customers a date, but it would be uncomfortable to have to go back to them and push things back.

We do plan to announce dates eventually, but only after our internal process is so good that we're never wrong - otherwise there's no point in publicizing dates. We want to release great software, of high quality, and fulfill our delivery date promises. Until we can do all three, we're going to keep tight-lipped about the dates. :-)
