ASP with Realty Manager

We use ASP exclusively for our FSBO site. Is it possible to access the flat file db using ASP? If so, this would be tremendous and most likely a purchase of Realty Manager. Thanks, Matthew Shull yousoldit.com

Hi Matthew, Sure! You can edit Realty Manager's data files with ASP. The real trick is to make sense of the format the data is stored in... but I'll leave that up to you ;-) Ben interactivetools.com

That's great news Ben . Is there any way to get a sample file of the database, or at least the format of the db? That way I can do some testing. Thanks, Matthew Shull yousoldit.com

Hi Matthew, I could send you a sample listings database flatfile if you like, but to be honest it wouldn't mean all that much without the program itself. I think you'd probably need to experiment with inserting data into the program to see what is stored where in the file. Do you see what I mean? Post me back about this. Ben interactivetools.com

Ben, If you wouldn't mind, I would like to see a sample anyhow. Even if I can't decipher it, at least I'll have an idea what I may be up against. Thanks, Matthew Shull yousoldit.com mshull@yousoldit.com

No problem - I've attached an example listing.dat.cgi file to this post. What I did was input two listings through the Realty Manager interface. One has each field filled in like so: Address: 'address field here' City: 'city field here' That way, you will hopefully get a better sense of which particular spot corrresponds to a particular field. The second listing has just some regular data in it. Note, however, that any changes you made to your database listings fields would be reflected in this file. But I hope this helps :-) Ben interactivetools.com
