swf file giving upload not valid swf file error Can't Post

Our client is hosting their own website and we have cmsBuilder version 2.08 running in a test environment. I need to upload swf files and I had to turn off the flash uploader in the general settings and even though images upload, swf files throw the error.

Hi,

Is it giving you that error when uploading the file? Is it just one swf file, or does more than one swf file cause the same error?

Let us know and we can look into this further for you.

Thanks

Yes, when trying to upload the swf file - only 1 file. I have flash uploader off, browse for file, the click the upload, it runs alittle bit and then gives me the error in red.

Hi,

Have you tried to upload a different swf file in case there is an issue with that particular file?

I wonder if we have the same issue.

Perhaps it is the server or the host company.
Do you mind saying who you are using for hosting?
We have hostmysite for this client.

Hi,

If you could send in a 2nd Level Support Request and provide an example of one of the swf files you're using, we can take a closer look into this for you.

Thanks,

Sublnl - I found my problem and maybe it will help you. Jason at Interactive Tools was able to upload a swf file but I couldn't. My swf files were coming back coded to 13 which is an swc file when using the getimagesize() check in the coding. I found that I had a check in the box next to "Compress Movie" under SWF Settings in the Publish settings. As soon as I unchecked it, my swf file uploaded. Hope this helps.

Jason, was the swf file you uploaded a completely different file than the one he tried?

Re: [sublmnl] swf file giving upload not valid swf file error [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi,

Yes, we created our own test swf file using a different program and were able to upload it successfully. When we tried to upload his file, we encountered the same error he did. This is because the file was created with a form of compression turned on.

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

thanks

I'll see if we can get the video from the client and encode it ourselves.

Thanks.
Might be the issue after all.
