Dave,
After slaving many hours trying to incorporate some code from Dynamic Drive with CMS Builder's list code - I came up with a solution that doesn't quite rotate the inventory (or thumbs) from the live database but instead puts up a series of random thumbs with the links to their respective list pages that works just as well and limits the strain of inquiries into the mysql database. Here's the result. Look at the Featured Listings banner section at the top of the page:

The customer is ecstatic.
