Setting up a php testing server on Mac OSX

Hi, I wondered if you could help - being a very visual person I would like to preview what I'm doing prior to uploading it onto the live server. I am using Dreamweaver CS3 I was wondering if there was a way of setting up a 'virtual server' on my hard disk so I can preview the php pages I have made with CMSB prior to uploading it to the live site. I was also wondering if there was a way of seeing what the database is doing. I would like to work with CMSB in a slightly more wysiwyg kind of way.... Any ideas? Many thanks in advance...

Hi there. Thanks for posting! One way to fully test everything out before going onto the live server would be to setup a web and database server right on your own computer. Have a look with Google for WAMP. This will let you install all the tools needed to test CMS Builder out on your computer. Let me know what you think . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Take a look at this link and see if this will help you with installing Apache, PHP and MySQL for Mac OS X. I think this is what you are looking for. http://www.mamp.info/en/mamp.html I have used Navicat as an interface to mySQL. It is a great tool and you can get a 30 day trial and see what you think. I have used it to import data from a spreadsheet (Excel) into the mySQL database as well. See: http://www.navicat.com/ PHPMyAdmin is another tool for managing a mySQL database. See: http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/index.php I hope this helps. Let us know if we can assist you further. Kevin
