Providing Section Access Can't Post

Hello,

Can you please tell me how I can give users access to only their own User Account details?

When I currently try and give access to user accounts, I can only tick a checkbox, which either gives users access to edit everyone's account details or no one's account details. Ideally I need to be able to set this to be "Author" for non-administrators.

See the attached screenshot.

Thank you,
Greg

Hi Greg,

One solution would be to use the Website Membership Plugin.

This would give you that functionality (and a lot more) and allow you to offer members "users" the ability to update their information through an update web page styled to look like the rest of your site without having to deal with the CMSB interface.

There's a good readme file included with the plugin and a lot more information about implementing the many features of the plugin in my CMSB Cookbook.

Hope that answers your question,

Hi,

Another option would be to give the users no access to the accounts section, and have them use the "My Accounts" link, found in the upper left hand corner of the side menu. In the accounts section, you can specify which fields you want to be available in the my accounts section for them to edit.

Hope this helps.

Re: [Jason] Providing Section Access [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi guys,

Thanks to you both for your responses.

Jason, I can't see how to specify which fields I want users to be able to edit in the My Account section. Can you please tell me exactly where to look?

I am running v 2.10 by the way...

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg,

If you go into the section editor for your accounts section and edit a field, under "Advanced Options" there is a checkbox for "My Account", which will allow that field to be editable in the "My Account" section.

Hope this helps
