Hi carminejg3, In Article Manager you can only use the category's number or the text entered into its filename field for generating unique filenames. If you wanted to use your category's name instead though, you can just enter in the text for that into the filename field. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

I'm trying to create a publish rule for my RSS feeds and our old feeds use the category names. So I really can't move the fields unless I want to create 47 new publishing rules for me feeds. Thanks. Webmaster http://news.carjunky.com

Hi carminejg3, It looks like there is some confusion about the filename field, understandably so. There is a filename field in the publishing rule area, as well as one that can be accessed by going to Admin -> Categories and then clicking the "modify" link for a category. The filename field I was referring to in my earlier post was the second one - if you make your changes there that would mean that you don't have to set up all of those publishing rules. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

but it would change the actually filename. Category name is: Kitchen Spoons Filename is: news_35.html Rss Feed neme wanted: Kitchen_Spoons.rss So if I change the filename it would change the built filename and cause the html page to be renamed, so i could rename the rss feed. Thats why it wont work in this case. Becasue renaming the filename would rename the category html page. Were in artman1 I used the category name, along with pubcron to build the rss feeds. Hi carminejg3, That makes more sense to me now! The only way to set up this kind of filenaming though, short of creating new sets of publishing rules, would be to use something like mod_rewrite on your server: http://www.workingwith.me.uk/articles/scripting/mod_rewrite That will only work on Apache servers and can get pretty complicated, but it is an option if you need to find a way to change those file names. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Jake, thats an awesome idea. This way I could keep the current naming system and it will take only a few minutes to set this up. Thanks Again Webmaster http://news.carjunky.com
