tickler system to review articles

Many of our articles will need to be reviewed / changed periodically. I'm wondering if this would be possible by using the Database Editor to add new fields at the article level (like "last review date", "next review date", "Need review flag"). Optimally I would like to be able to have a couple of pages: 1- List of all articles for 1 writer that have a "need review flag" = yes and "next review date" <= today 2- List of all articles for 1 editor (for the categories that they have access to) that have a "need review flag" = yes and "next review date" <= today. This list could either be by category or by writer. Can this be accomplised in AM? Thanks! Tom

Hi Tom Thanks for posting! You can create new fields to do just about anything you like . From the sounds of it you are going to need one to enter the last date an article was checked and then a yes/no one to mark articles that need to be reviewed. You can even use the search engine to return a list of articles that have that "need reviewed" flag set. How does that sound? Let me know when you want me to go over this in more detail so you can get started . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Sounds great Ross, 1- Will this work at the category level as well? For example, category "xx" has a Needs Review Flag that can be turned on / off. If an article is in a category that has that flag turned on and the Next Review Date of the article is past --> article needs reviewed. 2- Can these fields be invisible to the reader of the web site & just used by writers, editors, etc? 3- Can the viewers of the site see a search engine that does NOT show these fields while writers, editors, etc have a search engine that DOES show these fields. 4- Is it possible for me to make a page that has all articles needing review that is visible only to writers / editors? Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom Thanks for getting back to me! I'll go over your questions one at a time . 1. You can also add as many fields to your category editor so the same thing can be done there with the review flags. 2. When you add a new field to your system, you actually need to tell the templates where to display it so by default they don't actually show up. Basically, you don't need to do anything special to have a new field not show up on your pages. 3. The new fields aren't going to show up in your search pages either. 4. This one would be a little more tricky. While you can create links that will actually search those new fields you created, it would be difficult to restrict that to just your writers and editors. What you could do is create a link that lists all the articles that need to be reviewed and only give it to your writers and editors. The only thing is that if that link is shared, basically anyone will be able to use it as well. How does that all sound? Let me know what you think . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
