When I click the icon to generate an RSS feed, the folowing error appears: (I did not edit the RSS style sheet at all).

The XML page cannot be displayed

Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource 'http://www.esop.us/artman2esop/publish/rss.xml'....<p><strong>WASHINGTON</strong>

Re: [bobw] problems with RSS feed [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi bobw,

Looking at your xml page's source-code I missed the encoding, which tells your rss feed how to display certain characters. As I mentioned in a reply to a similar question by Federico, elsewhere on this forum, the first line of my rss file looks like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>

Now, your site may not need ISO-8859-1 if all you publish is pure English without difficult characters. Instead, you can try US-ASCII or UTF-8. Play around a little.

If anyone has other suggestions, feel free :)

Check the filename you have set in your RSS Publish Rule, is it blank? Do you have the right filetype selected (global list or one list per category). It's trying to publish your RSS Feed to that filepath and it looks like "." or no filename is specified.
