latest headlines - limit to two categories

I am working with the included AM2 template with the right and left nav bars in tact. In the right nav bar ("Latest Headlines") I was wondering, how I might limit the article titles which appear there to just two selected categories and not all? And then how would I set the number of titles under each of the two categories. Also has anyone had any experience with Lightbox JS v2.0 www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/ in connection with in AM2? For example, using it to display images in an article. Thanks - jpea1

Hi there. Thanks for posting! You are going to be able to limit the headlines file to two categories and even to less articles under each of those categories. Both things are going to happen in the publish but lets look at only having the certain categories appearing. Log into Article Manager and go to Admin -> Publishing. From there, click to modify the Grouped Headlines (grouped by category) publish rule. Scroll down to where you see the Category Filter and select to include from the drop down menu there. The last thing will be to just select which categories you want to appear on the right side. Save and publish this rule. Next, click to modify the Articles for Grouped Headlines (included by Grouped Headlines) publish rule. In this one, you'll be looking for Limit Results. In the second box there, enter how many articles you want to appear. Save and publish this rule. And that's it. Does that all make sense? Give it a shot and let me know how you make out . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Thanks Ross. It seems to work fine except for one category. The only variable attributable to the particular category in conflict is it the only "unlinked" category of all my categories. (I am attempting to use this category for my pseudo static pages ("about, contact, privacy, terms of use" etc. text) Could the "unlinked" aspect cause the issue? I double checked the category filter (I was only looking to set two categories), resaved and republished. And then just to see, I set the conflicted category to "regular" and the same issue still existed. Maybe I should just redo the particular category and articles from scratch. Other than that it was very straight-forward. Any thoughts? Thanks Ross

Hi I am not actually quite sure what you are saying isn't working as you were expecting it to. Could you give me a few more details? From the sounds of it, you wanted one of the categories to appear there was an unlinked category but would rather get a better idea before diving back in to it. I look forward to hearing from you . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
