displaying one level subcategories issue

hey guys, I know how to make my subcategories appear in one level only, but after the upgrade something is not right with me. Let me make my problem into an example so it will be understood better. Let's say I have this main menu: * Politics - US --North --South - Europe -- France -- Spain * Social * Sports * Misc Now I changed my all my publishing options to show one level for all categories. But when I view an article in one of the subcategories (say North under US politics) for some reason all other subcategories in politics gets displayed as well. Like this: * Politics - US --North --South - Europe -- France -- Spain * Social * Sports * Misc while I only want to show this (given I'm reading an article in soccer): * Politics - US --North --South - Europe * Social * Sports * Misc Is there something I'm missing? mekaeel

I did change the options of Global Menu (default menu) and Category Menus (current category highlighted) to show only the parent category and 1 level sub and such, but to no vail :( UPDATE: seems I know what's the problem, I'll check it out and be back with the result I have so many categories and articles to publish to know the result.

nope I tried everything possible but it seems this can not be done in AM2, I played a lot with the Custom Menu Format but I could not get it as I wanted, or rather as it was in AM 1.41. I do hope I'm wrong though.

I'm not sure if this is the problem, but just in case... There was two menu formats in ArtMan1 that were removed from ArtMan2. Here's how to reproduce them using a Custom Menu Format. Selected Branch Only - Only show parents and subcategories of the selected category - Show [0] level(s) of subcategories from root - Show [1] level(s) of subcategories below selected category - Show [parents only] above selected category - [Show] selected category Subcategories Only - Only show subcategories of the selected category - Show [0] level(s) of subcategories from root - Show [1] level(s) of subcategories below selected category - Show [nothing] above selected category - [Hide] selected category Hope that helps, if not - let us know and we'll keep trying! :) Dave Edis - Senior Developer interactivetools.com

Hello Theo and Dave, I was using one level. But the one level in AM 1 gave me a different result than AM2, which I wanted. again just to explain my problem better: Sports - Soccer ----US ----Brazil - Basketball ---- Chicago ---- Seattle In AM1 when I highlighted Brazil under Soccer the menu looked like this: Sports - Soccer ----US ----Brazil - Basketball which is good! But now in AM2, it's looking like this: Sports - Soccer ----US ----Brazil - Basketball ---- Chicago ---- Seattle It's showing all subcategories of other sections that are not chosen as well. This is really annoying because I have sooooo many categories and subcategories. When I view short articles the page goes all the way down for the menu only . I hope that explains it better and I tried Dave's suggestions but unfortunately they did not work mekaeel

Mekaeel, Thanks very much for posting your detailed notes, it helped a lot in tracking this down. We'll have this fixed in 2.01. Theo Wiersma Project Manager
