Upgrade AND migrate

Hi Currently have AM1 on a site and are currently in the process of migrating the site to a new domain name. I very much want to upgrade to AM2 for the new site and take advantage of the MySQL back end as well (Already have another site on AM2 from a fresh install and it is great) What would be the best way to achieve this. Should I install first on the current domain, upgrade then switch to the new domain or is there another way? Regards Glen Schild

Hi Glen, Thanks for the post! I would suggest first moving your Articel Manager1 website over to the new server, after that has been finished I would begin the upgrade process to Article Manager2 on the new server. :) Does this help Glen? If you have any other questions please feel free to ask! Cheers, Chet Woodside - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi Chet Thanks for the response :-) To confuse matters the plan is to upgrade the site before launching on the new domain which means all templates being re-worked anyway. Although we are trying to keep the down time to an absolute minimum. Would another way be to install AM2 on the current server, switch to the MySQL backend. Then a fresh install of AM2 on the new server and then when ready to switch copy the db across to the new server. That way we still maintain service with the minimum downtime? The other challenge may be that the categories may be reorganised with most of the current main categories (about 45 of them) ending up being sub categories of probably no more than 5 main categories! Regards Glen

Hi Glen, Yep, you can definitely do it that way. Doing the migration on Artman1 is a bit easier, but it can definitely be done for Artman2 as well. :) Donna
