Update the index.htm page with content Can't Post

By a side I get AM2 installed inside a folder. By other side I get a 'empty block' in my index page at the root. I would like to populate this 'empty block' with AM2 content, I mean to pull the content at empty block. By instance, I would like to populate it with the three last published articles, or with the three of the 'popular' category.

I have tried with SSI, and I get not sucess; I tried to make a query and make a SSI inside 'empty block' with the result string (without http://www.mydomain.com-, but I get ALL the results with the template, and I just want the 'content' without the left and right columns.

I belive a solution could be make a search vinculated to a plainsearchresult html page, but I donīt know how to include the 'new' searchresults page template inside the query.

Thanks guys! Wink

Hi Felixr.

Thanks for the post!

Are you trying to publish all your Article Manager2 files into a unique directory on yours server? Or are you trying to publish only a few specific articles in this unique directory? Could you let me know which your trying to set-up Felixr, once I have a better idea of what needs to happen I'll be happy to lend a hand. :)

Does this help? I look forward to hearing back from you soon!

Re: [ChetW] Update the index.htm page with content [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Chet,
All article manager files are published inside a same directory. My target itīs to update a part o block of the index.html (situated at root) with the published content of three lastest published 'Most Valuable' category, so each time this category is updated, also the index.html will be updated.

I believe is could be with SSI or even quering with search.cgi but ... if I do search.cgi I get the results with ALL template, and I need just the 'result content', without the left and right columns. I believe if I create a 'plainsearchresult' page I could 'paste' the query at index.html. is it correct?. how may I to query using a different 'searchResuls.html' page?

The main idea is ... if I get a html page published outside /AM2/ folder, how may I to update these html pages that they are outside /AM2/ folder. Probably with SSI. is it right?

Thanks Chet and sorry for my poor english.

Felix

Hi Felix

Thanks for clearing that up Smile.

To have a list of articles from a specific category appear on your front page you can either use the search engine or setup a publishing rule. Both options would involve an SSI but using an SSI on your search engine will take more resources and as your site grows (and number of articles gets higher), you'll notice that it takes longer and longer for the page to load.

I think the best way would be to setup a new publish rule that creates you a file that just lists the most recent articles from a specific category. That way, the SSI you use is just pointing to a static page which is much easier on your server an way quicker for visitors.

Let me know what you think and if you need some more details on setting this up Smile.
