Hi folks, here is what I would like to do: I am deploying AM2 for a client to replace his current html site. He has a few pages which need to be accessed from the menu on the left, and some are within categories. What I want to know is this... Lets say you go onto the index page of his site, he needs a static article to be there on the front page. Then down the left you have your categories. Some of these will only have one article in them, so for example, if you click on "appliances" on the left menu, the article about appliances will appear on the right, not in a sub menu. Other categories will have more than one article in them, but essentially he needs to maintain the current structure of his site. Is it possible to have a static article on the front page, with no other article links, just the other categores down the left, and then other articles one click away from the left menu, ie, not in a sub-category? Kind of like a regular html site with a menu. I hope I havent been too confusing in my explanatin! Thanks in advance.. Scotsman.

Hi Scott Thanks for posting and welcome to the board! I do believe you are going to be able to set all this up in Article Manager so let's get started on it. I think the best way to do it though will be one part at a time and I think the main index page will be the best place to start. What I'll get you to do is create a new category called "Front Page" but have so it doesn't appear in the category list. You'll need to tell this category to publish its index page right in the root of your publish folder and call itself index.shtml. This is basically going to over right the index page being created by your global index publishing rule (which we will disable). From that point, you would just need to edit up a new template for the "Front Page" category so it only showed one article, and displayed it as if you were on an actual article page instead of a category index page. And that would be it for this step. I realize this sounds like a lot of work but it shouldn't be too hard. It's always harder to explain than to actually do . Let me know if you are still on board here and I'll go into more detail for you. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
