Questions om AM2 items

Sorry if these questions have been asked elsewhere. 1) Images. When images are uploaded the first image uploaded seems to always go to image register 2 and them the second image goes to image register 1. In AM1, I could select which register the image was uploaded into, but in AM2 I can't seem to do this. Is there a method of doing this? Normally we use two sizes of images and used image 1 for the smaller image and image 2 for the larger image and reallt would like to keep this way of working. 2) If an image is deleted that register is not free'd up. So if image register 2 is deleted the new uploaded image will go to image register 3. Can I not re-use the previous register, now empty? 3) Can the centering on the images be set to a default of RIGHT? 4) Does Autopublish feature in AM2? It would be great if it did and was able to be able to set the stories with checkbox to be fired off by Autopublish. With all the Publish rules I just have not got my head around this so perhaps the answer is there and I just have not seen it. Thanks

Hi there. Thanks for posting! I am going to go over your questions one at a time . 1. The developers have made a note of this and will definitely look into it. In the meantime, the images have little previews on the actually editor page so you’ll still be able to tell which placeholders to be using . 2. That’s the way Article Manager 2 is setup. Basically, this way, you won’t be able to accidentally over write any images as you upload more to that article. What were you trying to setup that would need the placeholders to be re-used? I can see what new options you have. 3. You can definitely set your images to right align. On the last page of the pop up that you use to upload the images (the one with the image previews on it) there will be a drop down called “Align”. Just select “right” from the options and that should be it. 4. The Auto Publish feature is part of Article Manager 1 at this time. We are going to be focusing on the current feature set for the time being with Article Manager 2 but it’s something I would definitely like to have added as well. How does that all sound? Let me know if you need anymore details . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

I'll also add that AM2 includes automatic thumbnailing. So you can have it automatically create thumbnails of your existing images so you don't need to create them yourself. Dave Edis - Senior Developer interactivetools.com

Hi again. I managed to misread your second question so I just wanted to get back in touch . There are a couple different ways for having your images default to align right but I just wanted to double check first what you had in mind here. Basically, was it only going to be some images that get aligned right? IE: a teaser image for articles. Or had you wanted to have some left aligned as well? Now, if you were just looking to get all images defaulted to the right period, that would be really easy. I just want to make sure what you aiming for first . There’s always going to be a way to get something done with Article Manager 2 so if you could get me a few more details on this one, I’ll be able to look into all the options you have. I look forward to hearing from you . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi Ross & Dave, Thanks for the replies on this. 2) If an image is deleted that register is not free'd up. So if image register 2 is deleted the new uploaded image will go to image register 3. Can I not re-use the previous register, now empty? Ross your reply is fine, but, the image has been deleted from the register, it's now got nothing in it and yet I cannot seem to reclaim the register. 3) Can the centering on the images be set to a default of RIGHT? This is about the default centering where at the moment LEFT is the default. So my question is can it be set to RIGHT as default as the factory default per se. Of course if the image needs to be moved to CENTER or LEFT then of course this can be changed.

On image uploads, the image/upload numbers are not re-used. If you'd like to see an option for that in a future version let me know and I'll add it to the list. There might be a simpler way to do what you want to do without having to reply on specific image number, though. You might want to look into that and consider some of the new features. On the alignment issue. There's no feature that lets you change the default image alignment from left. I heard a few of the guys talking about various workarounds for this, so they might have some ideas for you, but it's not supported by the software by default. If you know that you want all your images aligned right though, you can hard code that into the template. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
