Publishing speed, publishing static search results, and artman 2.1

Hey all, So I have to say I'm rather disappointed with Artman 2.02. The main problem is just how slow the new publishing mechanism is. It takes over 6 minutes for me to publish 2800 articles, 40 category indexes and headlines, and a master index page (and I had to jury rig the master index - I wanted to publish all articles from this year, but I had to limit it to only the articles from half the year, or it would time out.) I'm using the supposedly faster MySQL setup, and I've paired down my templates to include minimal templateIF statements, as they seem to really bog things down. In article manager 1.41 with flatfile, a "publish all" took maybe 2 minutes, for they same number of articles and categories and that was including 12+ publishcron runs, too. (Admittedly, there were no templateif statements in those templates, but the speed difference is huge.) Furthermore, its unfortunate that artman 2.02 doesn't have a publishcron type facility built in. I was very excited about this possibility when version 2 came out - but I was disappointed. This is crucial for me, because I can not use the dynamic artman features on my website (like search) because we have such high traffic that the high number of perl processes eventually crash the server. (In fact, this happened just last week, when 28 requests for view.pl came in all at once (we are still using artman 1.41 with some archived articles on the live server) and crashed the server. I had to turn off the viewer, and so now heavily requested content is unavailable to the public.) So here's what I'd like to see: A version of artman 2.1 coming out soon with at the very least a faster publishing time and publishcron-like capabilities. (I have a feeling that a publishcron type feature added to the publish rules might make for faster publishing, especially if it helps me to eliminate templateif statements). (I know that earlier I asked for mutiple category posting, but I think basic functionality has to take priority here). If these basic types of improvements don't come about soon, I will be forced to find another CMS. Seriously, my boss is starting to talk about how he regrets choosing article manager. Anyhow, I hate to start the new year on such a demanding and negative note, but I have to be honest. Wishing all a happy (and hopefully faster) New Year,
