Placeholders problem

Greetings, I am relatively new to Article Manager, having replaced another person who used it to run a newsletter. On the newsletter site there are a series of category links, each of which will take you to an article index page that currently lists $article.agency$ and $article.agency$ (example: http://www.ovpr.uga.edu/researchnewsletter/arts/index.html ) I have been instructed to add deadlines for these listings, and so have gone into the articleLists folder to categoryIndex.html and added the following into the table: $article.deadlinetitle$: $article.deadlinedate$ and $article.2deadlinetitle$: $article.2deadlinedate$ I then republished the associated files. But unfortunately it doesn't work. The deadlines do work on previously set-up pages linked to these category index files, so obviously I'm doing something wrong. I haven't been able to solve this using documentation or tutorials and so would appreciate any assistance. Thanks!

Hi, Thanks for the post! I've had a look over this for you and I'm a bit curious if these fields you mentioned (deadlinetitle, deadlinedate,2deadlinetitle, 2deadlinedate) have already been created in the admin program. If not, you'll want to log into Article Manager and click Admin->Database Editor. You'll then want to click "edit table & fields" for the Articles table and from there you'll be able to add these new fields to this table. Once the fields are created, you shouldn't get any errors. That said, if you've already created these fields and are still running into an error, it'd be great if you could attach the categoryIndex.html template you're using to your next forum post so I can have a closer look at that for you. I look forward to hearing from you! Cheers, Mike Briggs - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Greetings again, These fields were previously created and are working successfully on the pages linked to the category index pages (these pages already list the deadlines, my boss just wants the category index pages to list them too. Here's an example: http://www.ovpr.uga.edu/researchnewsletter/arts/NEH-Social_Science_Rsch_On_Japan.html ) I'm going to upload the categoryIndex template (not working) and the articlePage template (working, where deadlines were copied from) for you to look at. I'm also uploading a file now called categoryIndex2.html which was the previous category index template (that the pages still seem to be based on). I appreciate your help!

Hi, Thanks for the post and the additional details! I've had a look at these templates for you and it does seem that everything should work based on the categoryIndex.html file that you've attached here. One thing you'll want to double check is that your new categoryIndex.html file is being uploaded to the server properly. I've heard of cases in the past where certain FTP or HTML editor programs (some include the ability to upload to a server), won't actually upload files the way you'd expect and the templates on the server won't actually be updated. I'd suggest double checking to make sure that the categoryIndex.html file on the server is the latest version. If you'd like me to get onto the server myself and double check this for you then you can just fill out a Support Request with your FTP details here: https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi I hope this helps! Thanks a lot! I just sent you the details, mentioning that in the case of this site, files are saved directly to the web server.
