Order by date problem

Hey guys... I've got another problem to throw at you. I finally got things set up properly, but last night, I had noticed an article on my site that was posted a year ago that needed to be tweaked a bit (Roberto Alomar's retirement from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays). I went in and made the necessary change (there was an extra line break at the end of the article's summary section), and re-saved and re-published the article. However, now this article is showing in some odd places. It's showing as the third-most recent article on my home page It's not showing on the baseball home page (which reads from the js web feed), but as the top article in the baseball section when you click on the "More" button from the baseball section (which takes you to the publish category of basball). I did not change the time or date on the article -- it's still showing as last year. The publish rule is set for the default of sorting by date. Any ideas as to why it might be acting goofy like this? To see what I'm referring to, here are the pertinant links: Home page - http://www.mopsquad.com Baseball home page - http://www.mopsquad.com/baseball Baseball publish page - http://www.mopsquad.com/artman2/publish/Baseball_2/index.htm

Hi there. Thanks for posting! It definitely looks like sorting will be the issue here. Of course, there are a several different places that sorting can be set so could I get you to double check them all? First would be the publishing rules. From the sounds of it, you’ll need to check out the following ones: Global Index Category Index JS Feeds (if that’s how you were creating the .js file used on mopsquad.com/baseball When you modify them, the sorting options are down at the bottom and will basically be three drop down menus. Since I think the default settings will be ok for all your files, just leave these blank in each of your publishing rules. Next, click into the Database Editor and modify your article table. There will also be some sorting here in the “Default Sort Fields” textbox. For that, you’ll want to set it to just –date for now. Remove anything else like Featured, but make a note of what was there. After that, republish your articles and let me know how you make out. It should get all your pages sorting the same way so we can make adjustments if needed from that point . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

One thing I'll add. If you have a field for "Featured" articles make sure it's set to a field type of "int" in the field editor. mySQL sometimes doesn't sort featured checkbox fields correctly unless they're set to "int". Dave Edis - Senior Developer interactivetools.com
