I understand from my hosting provider that the binary files for ImageMagick are available on my server at usr/bin/ as binary files. Is there a way that AM2 can use these files? The specific files available are: identify convert composite Thanks!

Ask your hosting provider to install the Image::Magick Perl module. The program can't use those binary files directly. Dave Edis - Senior Developer interactivetools.com

The service provider, Dotster.com, which is highly reputable, isn't willing to install the modules. Any other suggestions other than get a new host?

Are you on a shared server? And if not, do you have root access? Bryan Gilchrist

Hi there, Article Manager can also use GD 2.17+ -- would they be willing to install that instead? ImageMagick & GD are both very common Perl modules -- most providers have no problem installing them, so I'm surprised that a large host wouldn't have them available already. If your host isn't willing to install either, you're going to find that you'll be unable to use most web software that makes modifications to images. If thumbnailing is vital to you, there's not much to do but switch providers. Thumbnailing is an optional feature, though -- if you don't need it, you can easily stick with your current host and not use it. :) Donna

Ok - so I'm checking out another service provider (GoDaddy.com)... after installing AM2 I see they have an unsupported version of GD installed (2.0.7). They say they'll update it to 2.35. Do I have to reinstall AM2 after they update it? How do I get AM2 to recognize that an installed version is now available (or does it check each time you log in??)

Once they upgrade their version of GD the software should automatically detect it and be able to use it. Dave Edis - Senior Developer interactivetools.com

GoDaddy.com has two versions of ImageMagick installed: The convert path to ImageMagick, version 5 on our servers is: /usr/bin/ The convert path to ImageMagick, version 6 on our servers is: /usr/local/bin/ Could I force ArticleManager to look in one location over the other?

Ask them if they can install (or you can install) the perl ImageMagick module. It's called Image::Magick. Dave Edis - Senior Developer interactivetools.com
