Is error due to testing server Can't Post

Hi,

I am creating a site on what will be the final location but accessing through temporary address using IP as nameservers have not yet been changed, I have been doing a lot of messing about with pages and just want to check if the reason I get the error below is because the function is not being requested via a normal www.mydomainname etc call and that presumably there is some security checking in the program which is attempting to stop access from areas outside the domain name.

The error is received when I attempt to click on the next page link on the index.shtml file in the publish folder.

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

That actually looks like your server isn't accepting requests from itself. Two ways to fix this: One, ask your hosting provider to configure your web server to accept requests from itself (if they need a demonstration of this, drop us an email at support@interactivetools.com with your FTP information, and we can install a test script that shows the issue).

The other option is to go into the Admin options, choose General Settings, and scroll down to "Dynamic SSI and Code Parsing". Choose "Emulated SSI" instead, and then save. That should fix it up. Note that PHP/ASP/CFM or any other dynamic languages will *not* work, but the default SSI's will.

Re: [Donna] Is error due to testing server [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Donna,

Your assumption is correct our providors say they do prevent this and we cannot enable it, I have tried changing the ssi mode however I get the following error messages relating to the category list and latest headlines when attempting to access the next page link at the bottom of the page I also lose our included headers.

[Emulated SSI Error : file '/home/sites/bridlington.net/public_html//bridlington.net/informer/publish/include_globalMenu.shtml' doesn't exist!] [Emulated SSI Error : file '/home/sites/bridlington.net/public_html//bridlington.net/informer/publish/include_searchbox.shtml' doesn't exist!]

and

[Emulated SSI Error : file '/home/sites/bridlington.net/public_html//bridlington.net/informer/publish/include_groupedHeadlines.shtml' doesn't exist!]

and

[Emulated SSI Error : '../../header.html' must start with '/']

Although the content in the main page seems to display okay, the files do exist in these locations and all columns display fine on the first page.

You can view the issue at our testing location of http://79.170.44.106/bridlington.net/informer/publish/index.shtml and just hit the next page link at the bottom.

Obviously I need to fix this as we cannot use the default ssi option due to the server restrictions, any help would be appreciated as we are hoping to be ready to make the site live by weekend.

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

It sounds like there might be a path problem in there. At this point, without seeing the server itself, it's hard to say what the exact fix would be. You'll probably want to fill out a support request and we can pop in and find out what the correct paths should be. :)
