Interested in Upgrading

We're interested in upgrading to 2.0 but have a few questions first. 1. What are the costs for upgrading from version 1.40? Is there a discount? 2. Are the articles still published as individual HTML(or PHP, etc.) files or can they be read straight from the MySQL database? 3. One of our clients has a request regarding duplicate data within Article Manager. Example: They have a class schedule calendar that appears on numerous pages of their website. They only want to change this in one place (or in one article) rather than having to edit numerous articles. Is this possible with the new version? Would this require any custom programming on our part? I'm guessing if all the articles are in a database this is possible and that's my previous question. Thanks.

Hi jorel. Thanks for posting! I am going to go over your questions one at a time . 1. There are actually two options for upgrading. First, you can download all the upgrade files right from our website for free: http://www.interactivetools.com/upgrade/ There is documentation there for you and we are here to help if you needed some more detail on any of the step. The second option will be to go through our $49.00 upgrade service which means we would look after upgrading it for you. One thing to keep in mind with the paid upgrade is that we'll make sure all your data gets imported properly and get the templates as close to imported as possible. Some template sets end up being fairly complex though so depending on the amount of time it would take, we might end up transferring things into Priority Consulting. 2. Just like in Article Manager 1, all your articles in Article Manager 2 will be published as static files on your server so you'll still have all the benefits of that (less overhead on the server, indexed by search engines, faster load times, etc). You do have the option of saving your articles in a MySQL database but they will still be published as static files. 3. Article Manager 2 is going to make it even easier to update a specific part on all your articles without having to go edit them individually. There are several ways to do this and I can walk you through them all once you get started. How does that all sound? It would be great to hear from you again so feel free to send me anymore questions you have . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
