Installing/Setting up Article Manager 2

1) Is it possible/recommended to put MySQL on the same box that the Web server is on (assuming a low-usage situation) 2) How much space is recommended for the above 3) Is it possible/recommended to put MySQL on a box that's already running SQL Server 2000 or higher 4) We aren't sure if we will use the thumnailing feature, so we are assuming that we could install imagemagic if needed after this web site is being used. 5) This will be for an intranet, but we have another intranet that is using Article Manager 1.x on that server that is currently being used. We don't plan on upgrading this very soon. Are there any potential conflicts?

Hi there. Thanks for posting! I am going to go over your questions one at a time . 1. I am not really a server expert but I don't see there being a problem with have MySQL running on the same machine as your web server. I am thinking that most sites are setup like this but I don't think it's a requirement. 2. Not being a server admin, I am not really sure how much space is required for MySQL but I doubt it will be anything to crazy. 3. Sorry for sounding like a broken record on this one but I am not really sure if there are any problem with having both MySQL and MS SQL on the same server. 4. You can install the thumbnailing modules whenever you like. Article Manager will start using it as soon as it recognizes you installed it. Now, one thing to keep in mind here is that you might need to upload images again that had already been uploaded before you installed ImageMagick. Reason being, the thumbnails are created as you upload the image. 5. There is no problem running two copies of Article Manager on the same server. Just about anyone that upgrades from 1.0 to 2.0 will most likely have both at the same time. How does that all sound? Let me know if there is anything I can go over in more detail . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
