Installation errors Can't Post

Greetings ITeam,

I am finally moving to a new hosting company (you suggested DREAMHOST and DH it is!) and leaving darn *%$&$ CIHOST behind...

For the transition / trial period, I am using a temporary setup. Once all is working, I will go for the definitive site and move things over... (I have 2 ArtMan sites that need to be setup, one from scratch, one moved...)

I have tried installing the latest version of ArtMan, and all went (apparently) ok... admin.cgi responded OK, etc., after all was uploaded and permissions set as per your instructions.

Problem is... something is not working. Not sure why... or what.

Please see the attached pic for what is going on... Any ideas on how to fix this?

Also, I want to go with a flat file db first, and later convert to MySQL when needed/when I am more familiar with DREAMHOST and the ins and outs of their CPanel, site management, etc., but I found it strange to start with that I was not asked during ArtMan's setup what my choice was... if I wanted to go flatfile or MySQL...

Thanks in advance for any help!

Joao

Hi Joao!

Thanks for your post. :)

By default, Article Manager uses flatfile, but can be switched to MySQL at your convenience. So, you're setup the way you want it to.

As for the issue you're having, for some reason your SSI's (server side includes) aren't working, so it can't pull in all of the additional pages. First thing to doublecheck: Have you run a "Publish All"? Try re-publishing your site by going to Admin -> Publishing. This will recreate your site.

If that doesn't work, doublecheck your paths under Admin -> Server Settings. Make sure all of the paths are correct there -- and make sure they're accurate for your current installation, even if it's temporary. You can always switch that around later when you move it to the final location.

If neither of those options work... let me know and we'll come up with something else! :)

Hi Donna,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, for the time being, flatfile is OK. I just did not see an option asking for MySQL or faltfile during installation, etc. Where do I find that?

As for SSI not working and republishing... This is installation point zero... I mean, it's just that one single page Am puts there to show all went well... (I would assume SSi to be working just fine -- I was convinced that ITools sugesting DREAMHOST as a fully compatible AM hosting service, no hassle, meant just that... Maybe I have to check with them if SSI needs to be activated, but I believe it is OK -- its a standard thing, right!?

I amy also just save time and get the ITeam to do the installation for me... hassle free... :)

Thks,

Joao

Hi there,

You can switch the database options by going into Admin ->
Database Editor. You'll see a dropdown menu for "Database Actions" where you can "move data to a new database". From here, you'll be given the option to choose MySQL if you'd like.

Sorry -- I didn't actually mean to say that SSI's aren't working on the server, they definitely are or you wouldn't be getting that error message (they'd show nothing at all if they weren't working.) However, since you're getting the error, there's obviously something not quite right. :)

Anyway, did you try the "Publish All" button? If you hit that, it should make sure that all of the pages are created as necessary.

Re: [Donna] Installation errors [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Donna,

OK... I lost patience... not sure what's going on, and since I cannot figure it out... I just placed an order with you guys to install ArtMan2 on the new server, and save some time... you'the pros! ;)

BTW, there were two installation reuqests sent in. The first I just clicked the button on the bottom of the page, and was asked for no CC info... so, I went back, and 2nd time clicked the order installation button and provided the CC info... sorry for the duplication.

All ftp info, etc., was provided, so just let me know when this is done.

Thks!

Joao
