Index Page - Multiple Installs?

Hello, I have several questions: 1. My index page is showing a comindex.shtml. I made the changes so that my domain address was my index page. Then for no apparent reason to me it added an extensions after the domain.com of comindex.shtml. Where the heck did that come from? I don't see it in my index page settings either??? 2. It appears on my server that I have multiple installations which is confusing for the root directory. 3. My server is timing out when I try to create an article at times. Not all of the time. But, it is normally pretty fast...but at times it either times out or is very very slow...like 30 seconds +. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi there. Let's see, I'll start with number one. :) 1) I'm not exactly clear which page you are referring to. What is the full url of the page and what did you change (and to what) to make the page your domain index page? It sounds like it's probably just the filename that's specified for the publish rule that creates that page but if you can give me some more details we can find out for sure. 2) Multiple installations - do you mean multiple index pages? Or just that lots of files are published to the root directory of your website? How would you like it to be? 3) Your server may have "throttling", meaning that when it gets a lot of requests at the same time or in a short period of time it slows everything down and limits the amount of requests it will fulfill at once. Who are you hosting with and what kind of plan do you have (or how much is your plan a month). Some hosting providers do this and it can be very frusterating.
