Global Index/Category menu conflict

I've altered the publishing rule for the Global index to only show items from one (sub) category e.g. 'Latest News'. Everything works fine. But if I try to add another (sub) category to the publishing rule so the index.shtml will show both 'Latest News' AND 'Sports News' for example. The sidebar category menu displays an 'error occured when processing this directive' I thought it might the <template if> indicating which category was selected, but removing this has no effect. Ideas ?

Hi there, I'm not quite following what's going on there -- can you give us a link to your page? Alternately, if you'd like to fill in a support request form, you can do so here: https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi I hope this helps! Donna

A bit more detail if it helps:- I have a main category called 'news'. With sub categories called 'latest news', 'sports news' etc. I only want a couple of these to appear on the main index.shtml page, with a sidebar generated by Category menus (current category highlighted) As a trial I've modified the publishing rule 'Global Index' to only show one subcategory 'Latest News'. 'Publish All' generates the page as expected, with only articles from one category shown, and a Category Menu sidebar. As here http://alcester.net/artman2/publish/ (NB This is very much a 'work in progress' and there's a fair bit of css and js included to generate the menu and boxes) The next step is to modify the Global Index publish rule so that articles from two (or more) categories will appear on the main page. When I add the second category (ctrl and select) in the publishing rule and 'Publish All'. The page is generated O.K. but the Category Menu does not appear and I get 'an error occured when processing this directive' instead. http://alcester.net/artman2/publish/index2.shtml (this is just a static copy to show the problem) As with a lot of these things its not vital that this works but it would be cool if it did

Hi there, Thanks for your post. :) I think the easiest way to track down what's going on would be to have you fill in a support request. With that, we can pop in and duplicate the issue and see what's going on. :) https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi Donna
