Featured article by topic...

I was reading this: http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/doc.cgi?/articlemanager2/tutorials/featuredArticle.html and I would appreciate a clarification: ""his step is very easy. Just log into Article Manager and go to the Categories page. From here, create a new category called "Featured Articles". You can leave it at the parent level but make sure to make it unlinked. Here's a screenshot of the settings you can use:" How does this work if I want to feature *Just* one article per category? Yes, I recognize it would have to be changed often (which is okay), but I only want to have for example: Main category page: > Featured Article larger summary than usual, i.e., half of the article, then a "read more". Then "Previously featured articles". Is this possible fairly easily - *for* each category specifically? Amber

Hi Amber, You could set this up with a couple modifications to those tutorial steps. Firstly, when creating the publish rule for these featured articles, you'll want to use the "Multiple Files" option instead of "One File". By doing this you can create different sets of featured articles for your individual category pages. The second step would be to modify the template used for creating the featured articles. You'll need to add the following templateIf statements in the articleRow templatecell:
<!-- templateIf: $articleList.currentResultCounter$ == "1" --> ***code for bigger article styling here*** <!-- /templateIf --> <!-- templateIf: $articleList.currentResultCounter$ > "1" --> ***code for previously featured articles here*** <!-- /templateIf --> Give that a try and let us know if you have any further questions about this. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
