Copy or backup an article

Does anyone know how to copy an article or create a backup of individual articles or even a whole category. My team have just spent 4 hours producing a very complex article with multiple uploads. I would hate for the client to accidentally delete it at any stage. I can't lock the category in case my client needs to add extra articles. The Dbase is MySQL. Cheers, Rees.

Hi Rees, There isn't a function in Article Manager for this specifically, but since you're using a MySQL database you can use a tool like the free MySQL administrator to make a backup of your database so that you have an offline version of this article on hand if you need it: http://www.mysql.com/products/tools/administrator/ It's pretty easy to back up your database with that tool. Let us know if you need anything else! ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Thanks Jake. If I backup the database and the uploads folder is it easy to reinstate this with a direct copy to the server? I understand that the database would need to reinstated through phpMyAdmin or similar. Cheers, Rees.

Hi Rees, To re-instate uploads, all you need to do is reupload the "uploads" directory as you described. Restoring the database is easy to do through MySQL Administrator, and as you mentioned it's possible to do through phpMyAdmin as well. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
