Cannot use foreing characters in Placeholders

Cannot use foreing characters in Placeholder's values - they're replaced with strange combinations like this one:
%u0413%u043B%u0430%u0432% , right after i click Save button. Is there a way to bypass it, and save foreing characters correctly?

I have the same problem, it's not the program actually, it's Internet Explorer 7. What I did to overcome this is that I wrote what I wanted in the " ال" style in Frontpage and then copied it to the placeholder. This will make it work

hmmm, no i have the same problem with FireFox and IE6 :( do not have the Frontpage to do the trick. Basically, i think we need to modify something in the page code, so it displays foreing characters correctly, but what?

if you mean you want to put the language code in your template html <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us"> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1256"> Then I tried it and it doesn't work but this may actually work if it's put in the control panel pages, I haven't tried it though I feel it's a little risky what language are you using?

I have already put this code into templates and into admin templates as well. That's why i'm posting here :) I'm from Russia, using russian language and cyrillic windows-1251 encoding.

yeah I just tried putting that code in my admin templates but no good I think I'll stick with using the strange language trick for now, Unfortunately I do not know how to do it without Frontpage otherwise I would have helped you better

I posted the question in yahoo answers and someone said this is called URL encoding. check the question and answers here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061203121235AAY092K&r=w I asked the same question in this forum few months ago but unfortunately the developers didn't know how to approach it. I know they will be able to solve it once it's completely clear how to handle it. best wishes

Hi there guys. Thanks for the thread . I actually ran into this myself last week and ended up passing it over to Dave. Basically, it turns out that it's going to be something that needs to be addressed in a future upgrade so we'll keep you posted on that. Dave's working away on the next version as I speak (it's Sunday by the way ). I am not sure which version we'll be looking at that in but it's definitely on "the list" though. Let me know if there is anything else you would like to see added to that . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi Anatole, I'm not sure if this will make 2.1 or not, but I've just discussed it with one of the developers, and they will definitely make an effort to have it updated ASAP. :) Keep an eye on the changelog, that's usually the best place to see what's been updated in the latest versions. Donna

Thanks for posting, Anatole. Fixing this is next on our list and should be part of the next maintenance version after 2.10 is released. It didn't make it into 2.10 (currently in QA and Beta), the scope for that update was locked before we learned of this issue. Theo Wiersma Project Manager

Cannot use non-standard characters

I have updated to Article Manager 2 within the last days. You did a great job programming this! Installing and setup did not make any problems. I ran much more easy than I thought. Unfortunately the automatic update of the templates has problems with tricky scripting and it took me some days to figure out all the necessary changes. But now it works properly. Maybe you can give some more assistence to other upgraders. Urgent! What i can not fix is a problem with non-standard characters. I imported the AM1 article content from the textfile to the SQL-files using the update tool. The SQL datafields are set for uase of UTF-8 character set. All texts, headlines, abstract and content, with a non-standard character have been cut with the first occurence of such a character. The rest of the text is lost in space. When I enter non-standard characters in the editor, the editor seems to accept them. But they are not stored in the database! Unfortunately i saw the bug after publishing the new database. We are ditributing incomplete news at the moment. Please tell me how I can fix the problem or work around. Best regards Clemens www.steel-grips.com/newsdesk

Hi Clemens, Article Manager 2 should be able to work with non-standard characters. Can I get you to fill out a support request? That way, we can take a closer look for you. :) https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi Donna

While non-english characters are now working in article text, there are still problems with placeholders. Changing charset from UTF-8 to windows-1251 did not help with placeholders, either.
