Cannot create temporary files

We have been using Artman for about 4 years and I am now testing it out on a new server before moving our site. Artman seems to work just fine except that the Preview function in admin.cgi will not work and the search.cgi script will not work. In both cases, the problem is the inability to write temp files and the result is a message like: The requested URL /BCLM/artman/publish/temp_1213046068.shtml was not found on this server. However, in admin.cgi if I get the above result for a preview of an article and then decide to go ahead and save it anyway, that is successful and saves a file such as article123.shtml in exactly the same folder in which the temp file could not be written. I have been in contact with the hosting service and they do not think that they have anything in place that would prevent the creation of the temp files. I have control over the file permissions and the publish folder is 777, as open as you can go, but still the temp files all fail while the article files succeed. To me, that means that something different is happening in the script for temp files compared to the article files and that may be the key to the problem. Hope someone can help.

Hi crawf, Usually this type of error is caused by a unique server configuration, usually when the server does not permit CGI scripts to execute Server Side Includes. The best thing to do here would be to submit a second-level support request so that we can take a look at this for you directly: http://www.interactivetools.com/support/ I look forward to hearing from you. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

OK, I'll do that. Seems strange, though, that the script actually can publish the articles if the script can't do SSI's. It's only the preview that fails.
