Hi Tom Thanks for posting! You can definitely have images in your RSS feeds. The template needs a bit of modification but it isn't hard at all to get going. Let me know what you think and I can go over the setup in more details . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Great Ross. That's good news. Feel free to walk me through an example and I'll try to adapt it to our situation from there. Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom Thanks for getting back to me! When you are working with images in Article Manager you are typically adding them into your summary or content fields with those image placeholders (***image1***). That means all you need to do is have either your content or summary field on the RSS template and you should be good to go. The most common one to use of course would be the summary field so that it doesn't end up being too long. To get this going, open up your /articleLists/globalRSS.xml template and add the following somewhere within the
section:
$article.summary:htmlEncoded$
That will get your summary field appearing in the feed and as a result, also the images. Give this a shot and let me know how you make out. Remember to publish the RSS feed after making this change . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

I'm trying to do the same thing and saw no image after pasting that code into my
tabs.

Great -- thanks Ross. I'll give that a shot and let you know. I'm also interested in allowing our readers to choose from a variety of RSS feeds -- possibly by category or combination of multiple category selections will be available once the latest beta is released. Can you also explain how to accomplish this? Thanks! Tom

SEScoops, I'm using AM 2.10 Beta 2. I actually did not have to change the template. My template already had what Ross suggested as follows: ----------------------------------------------------

$my.siteName:textOnly:htmlEncoded$

$my.siteDescription:textOnly:htmlEncoded$

$article.title:textOnly:htmlEncoded$

$article.summary:htmlEncoded$

---------------------------------------------- I then created an article with an image in the section. When I opened the AM RSS feed in IE7, the picture appeared properly. Tom

Hi Tom Thanks for the updates! To get an RSS feed going for each category, try this out: 1. Log into Article Manager and go to Admin -> Publishing. 2. Click modify for the Global RSS publishing rule. 3. Scroll to the bottom and find a drop down menu for Advanced Commands and select Copy Rule then hit go. 4. Change the Rule Name to: Category RSS Feeds. 5. Change Placeholder Set Name to: category's 6. Change Published Files to Multiple files and put in "<catFile>/rss" as filename then "xml" as the extension. 7. Save the rule and publish it That will get an RSS feed publishing for each category and save it in the category folder. Give it a shot and let me know how you make out . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Thanks Ross! Step 5 (Change Placeholder Set Name to: category's ) would not let me incude the apostrophe so I made the Placeholder Set Name: category. I really don't know whether it's working or not. I only see one RSS icon on the left side of my Home page. Do I need to do something else to have the additional levels appear? Tom

Hi Tom! That link is hardcoded in your template, so no extra ones will show up unless you add links to them as well. :) To test if they're working, head to the file they've been published to. As per your publishrule, they'll be in the categorydirectory/rss.xml (replacing "categorydirectory" with the appropriate directories, of course.) Take a look and see if they've shown up. :) Donna
