Can categories be made private?

Article Manager is perfect for our local Chamber of Commerce site, clean and simple, but we need one category to be private so only a particular user group can view this information. But it doesn't look like in the AM demo that this is possible. Do people register or is AM just for viewing articles by all who visit the site? We also must have a calendar, a good one that takes up a whole page in size much like vBulletin uses. Rod

Hi roddruce, Did you want to set this category to be private for your public pages, or was this for the backend of Article Manager itself? If you need to control access to public pages on your site, you would need to use a third-party password protection script. A number of Article Manager users have successfully set up aMember with our software: http://amember.com/ It's possible to restrict what categories specific users have access to within Article Manager itself under the "User Accounts" section. Article Manager does not include a calendar, so you might want to look into other scripts for that. I'd suggest taking a look at this site: http://www.hotscripts.com Let us know if you have any other questions. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi roddruce, Article Manager doesn't really have a user group system, although it does support different classes of users, such as Writer, Trusted, Writer, Editor, and Administrator. You can read more about these types by clicking the "Types of Users" link on this page of the documentation: http://www.interactivetools.com/docs/articlemanager2/users/index.html

Jake, AM may not be what we need for our Chamber of Commerce site but it will be just the shot for a local netball sporting site. Just got to decide on a domain name and I'll be right to go. Thanks for your help. Rod
