Hi I make use of banner ads for my client to sell space to make revenue. Problem is that I built the banner into the category template which covers all the pages for that publication. in other words only one banner can be used for a publication. I use a category per publication. What is the best way of allowing the use of different banner ads per page within a category i.e. a publication? Do I need to have a different categories within each publication to at least cover generic areas within a publication. e.g cover page, index, article types etc? Regards Tony R

You could probably use "Template If" tags to have it display different banners based on the category. And maybe you could add a field to the article database for "Section" and use that too. Then you'd have a unique category number, article number, and section number for each article. And you could pass those to your banner program or display different banner code based on all or some of those values. How would you like it to work? Do you want a different "identifier" for each page that you can pass to the program or just show different banner groups based on category and "section"? Hi Dave, As always - I guess that my client will want to use both of the ways you suggest. Right now I have setup a category for each of their publications. Each publication has a default banner ad set up by me in the template i.e. not accessible to their updating people. The client can create individual content pages within each magazine template. Now they want to be able to change the banner advert on a page by page basis or even a group of pages. The idea is for me to create banner images for them so that they can upload per page. (Another issue I have is - I dont want to clutter the image directory with duplicate images?) Regards Tony Randell

Hmm, well another idea is you could create a pulldown in the field editor for "Banner Images" and let them select from that on an article by article basis. That would give them the most control. Dave Edis - Senior Developer interactivetools.com
