Add On Scripts

Hi, It is decision time for me. I have an AM2 licence that I am about to use for a new site that reviews books etc. I could use Joomla but wish to give AM2 a try as I will be converting a couple of Mambo sites later this year and although the natural upgrade for mambo is to Joomla, I woul dlike to give AM2 a try for those sites also. So, in a way this 'reviews' site is a trial for the other 2 sites. Am2 looks great and I just have a couple of questions - (1) I read the recent thread about a comments script, this would be excellent for my sites and I wonder if there is a list of 'add ons' anywhere, eg. ratings & comments. (2) I use vBulletin on a couple of other sites and wonder if there is any script to send a new item in AM2 across to vBulletin as a new thread?. (3) I recall that AM used to have an output that would send recent articles as an html source for another site, is this function in AM2?. Many thanks, Mickey

Hi Mickey, Thanks for posting. Let me answer your questions one at a time:
(1) I read the recent thread about a comments script, this would be excellent for my sites and I wonder if there is a list of 'add ons' anywhere, eg. ratings & comments. We provide the comment script to customers through consulting, but beyond that there aren't really any other add-ons available from us. There are some third-party scripts available from amscripts.net, but it looks like that web site is down at the moment. While there may not be a lot of add-ons designed specifically for Article Manager out there, one of the great things about the software is that you can often set up completely unrelated third-party scripts with Article Manager without much trouble.
(2) I use vBulletin on a couple of other sites and wonder if there is any script to send a new item in AM2 across to vBulletin as a new thread?. I'm not too familiar with vBulletin, but Article Manager does have the ability to run external scripts when certain pages are published. Using this technique, you could write a script that creates a new vBulletin thread which could be run each time an article was published on your site.
(3) I recall that AM used to have an output that would send recent articles as an html source for another site, is this function in AM2?. I'm not quite sure what you're referring to here, but Article Manager 2 does support RSS feeds, and in addition to that you can set up the software so that the same article is published in multiple formats. I think I've covered everything here Mickey - let us know if you have any other questions! ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Thanks Jake, Am I right in thinking that once I have AM2 installed I just need to contact Priority Consulting and they will isnatll the comments script?. Secondly, I was reading a vBulletin forum tonight and someone posted a thought that vivvo 4 was going to be an excellent CMS, I clicked across to vivvo (http://www.vivvo.net/) and saw that they appear to be using IT as part of their package. Their page actually says "Welcome to online demo of Vivvo Article Manager." If I used the vivvo system would I then be using the AM2 script within their html design?. Best Wishes, Mickey

Hi Mickey, Thanks for your reply! You've pretty much got it - let our Priority Consulting team know that you'd like the comment functionality added to your site after Article Manager has been installed and they can get to work on this for you. You can reach them at consulting@interactivetools.com. We have no association with Vivvo at all - I guess they're using similar wording to what we've written for our site. Let us know if you need anything else. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Thanks Jake, I'll get AM2 installed and then request the comments script to be added. As for Vivvo, it is pretty close to AM2, even down to the www.YourSite.com etc. The Admin side looks different though (I think). Thanks, Mickey

Hi, sorry for asking on an old thread but, is there a chance to receive a quick guide or some clues on how to do this? I'll like to give my users a chance to write some reviews and comments on my vbulletin forums. Thanks in advance. Jesus
Hi, (2) I use vBulletin on a couple of other sites and wonder if there is any script to send a new item in AM2 across to vBulletin as a new thread?. I know this is an old post, but I have been looking at this today. I use the RSS feed from AM2 and added it to the RSS poster robot in VB, it takes the summary and inserts it onto the forum with a link to the full article, which means our users can then reply and discuss the article content. It also draws users from the forum to the article section. http://www.ninebean.com/forum/article-discussion/ Rob

I found this script worked well with AM2....any idea how one could get the recent comments automatically listed on the globalindex.html page? I have a site with over 500 articles ( medical textbook)...and would really like to have the comments changing on the index page. Thanks for any suggestions/help on this.
