In an earlier message I ask about automatically inserting an author image when a review or article is published. I still have not implemented that addition, however I have another question that concerns inserting data that pertains to an individule author when published. What I would like to be able to do is have published reviews or articles show data about the author at the end of the file. I guess you could call it "ABOUT THE AUTHOR" This would automatically insert this information if on file and would need the ability to include a link to the authors site if it so pertained. This would be for authors who have there own category but I also would like to offer this to guest who may submit there information with an article or review. (Hope I explained this ok) In version 1.41 I just used different templates to show author information but have not figured out the new publishing rules for the new version.

Hi, I have something in the works that should meet you requirements for a "ABOUT THE AUTHOR" section at the end of your articles. When a user creates/edits an article, there will be fields for Author Name, Author Email and a textarea for Author About that will be auto-filled with data that was entered for that user in the Admin > User Accounts section. Author Name will include the user Full Name. Author Email will include the user Email. Author About will include the user Notes. This content will be still edittable so that if you have a guest writer submit content, you can just edit these details and not have to go through and create a User account for them in Article Manager. So far, it is working the way I want. I just want to do a little bit more testing and I will send you the steps. :) This will also work nicely with my tutorial for Creating a "View all articles by Author" link. Hi Dave, the Tutorial is about "Creating a "View all articles by Author" link. What I´m looking for is to use fields for Author Name, Author Nr., Author Email and a textarea for Author About that will be auto-filled with data that was entered for that user in the Admin > User Accounts section. Is there a way to do this? http://www.gedichte-garten.de http://www.expertenartikel.de Bester Aufsichtsrat

Hi Damon, great addition. My problem is most reviews and articles are entered by myself. I generally receive these in Word format or some other text document, then I enter them using the authors name in the author field. Anyway to have a select type field or some other way of achieving the same results? Sorry to be a pain.

Suggestion 1) I publish my articles with filenames like <catFile>/article-<artNum>. So I don`t need the <artFile> placeholder to publish my articles. 2) But I want to have a page for every author with a search engine friendly url like www.mysite.com/authors/author-1 3) When I use the tutorial "Add About Author details to the article page", maybe I can fill in the User Number (createdByUserNum or currentuser.num?) in the "User defined article filename field" 4) With this information in the "User defined article filename" I can make a new publishing rule, that crates a page for every article using the <artFile> placeholder for the filename. 5) So I can have a "About the Author page" for every author like www.mysite.com/authors/author-1. If the author has written more than 1 article, the system will publish the site many times, but only overwrite the same file. What do you tink about that way? I this possible? Or is there a more easy way to produce author-pages in a search engine friendly way? Can I use directly variables like createdByUserNum in the publish rules for the filename? A lot of questions... http://www.gedichte-garten.de http://www.expertenartikel.de Bester Aufsichtsrat

Hi BlueMoon, What exactly is the different between the variables "createdByUserNum" and "currentuser.num"? For example, if User A wrote a new Article and Administrator B will check this Article, is Administastor A in this case the currentuser? createdByUserNum - this is the user number for user that originally created the article currentuser.num - in the user number for the user that is currently logged into Article Manager. In my tutorial to Add About the Author details, I only use the currentuser.num to bring the current user details (Full Name, email and about) into the article on new articles. If a another user checks that article, those details (Full Name, email and about) won't change unless they manually edit them. So while the currentuser is the user that is currently logged into Article Manager, this won't have an effect on articles that have already been created. I hope that makes sense. :) Cheers Damon Edis interactivetools.com

Currently I have five authors that submit content on a regular basis which four of them have there own category. I Really don't need to have email for any of them actually as most communication is done via a private message system. The ability to link to an authors site would be nice.

Anyway to have a select type field or some other way of achieving the same results? You could set up a dropdown list of authors names on the article page. Couple of questions for you to help me figure out the best method: Approximately how many authors do you have contributing content? Do you want to include email and about details for each of them? Let me know and I can help give you some ideas. :)

Damon: Got it figured out using (template if included) I think this is the best way here as I only have a small amount of writers and I like the fact I can just change the include file when needed. Thanks for your help.
