AM 2.0 security and subhosted domains

I've installed AM2.0 (new install), and encountered some problems that, in discussion with my hosting service (Verio - a "virtual hosted service that allows virtual subdomains), seem to arise from the default location of the cgi-bin directory for subhosted virtual domains (they locate their default cgi directory above the web root directory for what they say is better security. e.g. .../.../user/domainname/ would be the web root directory, but ../.../user/cgi-bin/artman2/ would be the location of the cgi files for the subhosted domain (but because verio also lets the root owner host and control cgi program which run from another directory above the subhosted domain, this directory is called via a script alias of www.domainname/cgi-local and www.domainname/cgi-bin is used to call scripts from the root cgi directory. ../../user/domainname/artman2/ would be the location of the web visible files including the publish directory. they do this for "security" reasons, but it seems that the use of this script alias is what causes problems . ..is there a "work around" or way to fix this? I think it may be necessary to edit the actual cgi-scripts files to replace references to cgi-bin with references to cgi-local?

Hi Bob, You should be able to specify the paths for everything during install and having an aliased cgi directory shouldn't be a problem. What is the specific problem you are having or how far are you getting through the install process? Dave Edis - Senior Developer interactivetools.com
