AMSCRIPTS / MIKE 4172

Greetings everyone, I thought I would drop a few lines here, just to let you know that like many of you, I was a client with AMSCRIPTS and have been unable to get hold of Mike for a long time... Not only did I buy his AM scripts -- now basically useless -- I had also contracted his services to custom develop some functionality for me, for AM -- I will now contact Dave to see if this is something IT will be willing to do. All payments made are now considered lost and no goods were delivered (I just had a chance to look at some tentative alpha stuff...) Last I heard from Mike, he/they had a setback with servers, then had new servers setup, then he was embarking on a hosting business/company venture (size of which I ignore, but whatever size, it am sure it would require probably a lot of his time and attention), and that was that. I am disappointed, but I hope he is OK. He always sounded like a nice guy. Stuff happens... As other AM users and IT clients have mentioned, I would wish that AMSCRIPTS were built into AM, and that AM (something I have mentioned in the past here in these forums) would develop some sort of a plugin or addon approach, so things would be smoother and enable greater functionality... If this happened, I could see an AM admin tab or something, where "install plugin/addon" would be available and do this automatically. AM itself and independent developers could then write to specs and make sure theirs scripts would comply... Anyway, this was just to be a short posting... What have I learned from this? I will most probably never again pay ahead for work not being delivered, at least when it comes to what looks like independent developers and one-man companies... ... and I am glad AM is accepting customization and is open to clients' requests do to some custom work. Maybe now I will be able to get AM to do what I have in mind. (Dave, keep an eye on your email and get back to me...) Best! (And to you too Mike, in case your are still around -- just hope nothing weird happened to you.) joa1 PS. If by any chance anyone has heard from MIKE 4172, I would like to know. PS2. If there is any chance that may happen... I would also suggest that IT tries to get hold of those AMSCRIPTS and add them as standard functionality to AM.

Amen to that. I was told that when phpbb3 would be out the GoForum would be updated and distributed to those who bought the GoForum before - like I did. It's the only reason why I haven't upgraded to phpbb3 myself, because of GoForum. :(

Well, funny thing, I had just posted this and Mike 4172 shows up on MSN... I tried getting in touch but he did not reply (same with messages left here via de forum private messaging), so I am sure AMSCRIPTS is dead and most probably no one is gonna hear from him or get the scripts updated... Like you ColinW-O, I bought goForum (and a few other of his scripts...) I left a suggestion that he may consider passing the scripts to IT so they may be incorporated into AM as standard functionality. If others here feel as you and as I do, it might make sense to voice it on this thread... Maybe with enough interest and requests IT will feel motivated to make an effort to get in touch with Mike and get the code!? SKYPE = michael.amscripts MSN / Live Messenger = michael4172@hotmail.com Just a though!... (Keeping my fingers crossed...) joa1

Yeah it would be great if IT came up with a bunch of "official" add-ons. I'd be glad to pay for them because I think AM is the best CMS out there available in terms of flexibility. I have been using it since 2001 now. Stuff like forum integration, most read articles etc would sell like hot cakes.
