AM1 Migration Questions

I have installed AM2 and migrated AM1 articles successfully. I have modified some of the templates during my testing phase. I am now ready to go live but in the meantime new articles have been added to AM1. Q1. Do I have to clean out AM2 and re-install followed by migration? Q2. If I run the migration script a second time will it overwrite articles already migrated or will I end up with multiple copies of articles?

Hi del Thanks for posting! Doing the upgrade again will over write all the data in your Article Manager 2 so there won't be duplicate articles. The only thing is that upgrading again will also do the template import over. That means, any changes you have made the Article Manager 2 templates will be over written. The easiest thing to do would be just make a backup of all your Article Manager 2 templates, run the upgrade again, then upload the modified templates back. One addition thing to look for would be if you had added any new fields or editing the publish rules as that would make things a little more tricky. If you could let me know all the things that you had changed in Article Manager 2, I can see what options you have. Also, how many new articles are we talking about here? Would re-creating them in Article Manager 2 be an option? I look forward to hearing from you . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Besides the templates (lots of changes) I have changed: - Options in the publishing rule "Global Menu"
- Options in the publishing rule "Category Menu"
- Added a database field to support summary only articles
- Changed the order of database fields for the article add/edit page
The changes I have made are not that extensive. The changes would be much quicker to make manually after re-migration than re-typing in the new articles. From your reply, the easiest option seems to be: - Backup the template structure before migrating
- Re-migrate the v1 articles
- Restore the template structure
- Change the publishing rules
- Add the new database field
Thanks.
