Is it possible to publish to: /var/www/vhosts/maindomain.com/httpdocs/ Yet have all the install files here: /var/www/vhosts/testdomain.com/cgi-bin/artman2 Both these domain names are on the same server. In the Admin > Server Settings under Directories & URLs, I used the browse button to go to maindomain.com/httpdocs and when I selected it I got this error in red text: The specified directory isn't readable! I don't understand how thats possible because maindomain.com is a live site right now with thousands of visitors a day. If that directory wasn't readable then how am I even getting traffic? See, whats happening is maindomain.com is the site I bought AM2 for? But before going live with it I wanted to do a bunch of testing with the program on testdomain.com to see if it would fit my needs. It does that and some. So now that I'm ready to use the software on the live site I don't want to do a complete re-install and lose all my settings. I thought I would be able to just change all the publish directories and urls but I get that error as mentioned above. Also, I'm wanting to know how to completely eliminate the summary and uploads from even being an option on the create articles page. I use headline links site wide and do not allow uploads in posts. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Heather, In your case, I'd actually advise that you move all of the Article Manager software files off of your test domain and onto the new one. Once you've done that, you can log in to the software at its new location and change all of the publish URL and directory settings to match up with the new site. If you still get that "Not readable" message after completing these steps, let us know and we'll take a closer look into it for you. You can permanently remove the upload and summary fields by going to Admin -> Database Editor and clicking "edit table & fields" for db_article. On this page, there are "erase" links for the fields you mentioned. When they're removed here they will no longer be available on the article creation page. Let us know if you need anything else. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Since both sites are on the same server, and I'm using the local host mysql database, can I simply just move the entire Artman2 folder inside the cgi-bin to the new site path location cgi-bin via the Cuteftp "move to" or "copy to" command? Or perhaps ssh copy/move commands in Putty telnet? Then once I login to the admin at the new url, change the directory and url settings then publish all? Then that will create all the new folders in root? If thats correct I have a question about that. Once it creates all the new folders after publish all, what happens if there are folders in root on this new server with the same names? I don't want to lose the contents of these existing folders except for the index.html files being over-written with the new ones. I ask this because my test site is a mirror, as far as directory and category structure, of the live site I'm wanting to move it to. The goal here for me is to move all this stuff over without having to do a fresh install as I don't want to recreate all the categories, publishing rules, and any other of my customizations.

Hi Heather, If you move the Article Manager files from within your FTP program, that will save you a lot of work and all you'll need to do is log in to the software at its new location and adjust the publish URL and directory settings. The entire contents of existing folders on the live site will not be overwritten when you do a "Publish All". Any file that's present in these directories that has the same name as a file that Article Manager is trying to create may get overwritten, although usually Article Manager will not do this and will instead display an error message that it can't overwrite the file (this is server-dependent). You shouldn't encounter any major problems when making this change, but that being said we always recommend doing a full site backup before making a major change like this. ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Jake Swanson - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
