Media Temple better than UK Hosters

I am recommending Media Temple in LA. Previously I used Media Temple and went away from them for some UK hosters, which on the surface seemed to offer the same service, and a little cheaper. What turned out was not the case. I will not mention the names of these UK hosters, but surfice to say I really had terrible problems with all of them. Slow response on problems, poor uptime, long-times to change things, restrictive in the use of parked and add-on domains, poor email services, inconsistent FTP connections. Support is a key issue especially when new to hosting, particularly shared-hosting. All of the hosters failed completely in my eyes to support their service. One support agent tried to teach me computer technology, another just shouted down the phone at me when I asked to speak to his superior. When I needed to claim back a domain name I ended up having to threaten legal action and then having to write to the registrar to get a resolution. So I have made the decision to move all my sites back to Media Temple. What a breath of fresh air they are. When I want something done, I just lodge a ticket and its done within 30 minutes. Need to talk over a problem - easily done. All the facilities I need are there. No gimmicks. Most importantly the uptime is far superior to any of the UK hosters I've used. Media Temple may not be the cheapest, or the most flexible in what you get, but in these days where support really matters, it is this that places Media Temple streets ahead of any UK hoster. of course anyone reading this and using a UK Hoster may have a different viewpoint but I still have to see one that gets anywhere close to Media Temple. http://www.mediatemple.net

I've used Velnet.co.uk (UK Based) who have provided me with a solid performance and technical support on my adventure into web designing. They hosted a school web site for us (which has been moved not by me to a broadband provider now), I recommended them to someone else who signed up with them for their own business, and more recently I took the plunge and got my own site hosted which they kindly upped the limits on it for free when I finally got it taken over by an Educational Charity. Very cheap with mysql databases as well and SSI enabled etc. Their support guys don't have a great grasp of english, however they do respond quickly (within a couple of hours) and if really desperate you can call them over the phone. I've heard that imhosted.com is also very good but have no experience of them. Regards Martin

Love that media temple site, they would win my trust. I am currently with windows based hosting and am very happy with them isqsolutions.com, hailing from canada. Very nice traffic reporting from deep metrix. Inexpensive too. -bd
