Hi I keep getting this message all of a sudden: This web application needs to be able to create and update its data files. Please ask your server administrator to make the following files and directories writable: /<my name>/public_html/cgi-script/se/data/search_text/4 The thing is, they ARE all writeable (chmod = 777). I have no idea why this has happened or what to do about it. Help! Terry Articles about information & communication technology http://www.terry-freedman.org.uk

Hi Terry. Thanks for the post! Since all your data files are set to “777” already, I suspect that the ownership on them may have been changed to a different user account. If your FTP program shows you the owner setting of the files could you double check that for me? If it doesn’t, I would be happy to have a look for you. All I would need is a support request here: https://www.interactivetools.com/support/email_support.cgi I look forward to hearing from you . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

thanks very much I sorted it: I had run out of disk space on the server. I have to be honest: the error message was misleading! Cheers Terry Articles about information & communication technology http://www.terry-freedman.org.uk

Hi Terry. Thanks for the update! I am glad to hear that you got the problem resolved. The error message itself does seem a little misleading now that we know what the problem was. I think though, that the message was actually coming from the server and not Search Engine because it’s not one I have actually seen worded that way before. I guess what it was really trying to say “Can’t write to file because there’s no space left” . Just keep me up to date on how you are making out. I am always happy to lend a hand when I can . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
