When to use the _he modifier

Reading the Search Engine documentation, I see that it is recommended that the _he modifier should be used inside <input value=""> tags. I see that the search_results template seems to include this in the search form which appears on the template but neither the search_form template or the generated html does. My question is: Do I need to be using _he on the search_form template too or just the search_results template?

Hi Annie Thanks for posting! I took the _he out of an internal demo and everything worked the same. The _he should be making sure that the content coming from those placeholders formats properly. If you are using a lot of special characters that might normally be converted to strange characters will HTML encode themselves so they display properly. Just to be on the safe side, I would leave them on the results template. They aren't needed on the query template because you are actually typing the words in yourself there. It only comes into play when the system is taking your keywords and displaying them on the page. Keep me up to date with how you are making out . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
