Two search criteria on the same site?

Hi, there. I have a site - www.commonsensedesign.net - which has a search field at the top of every page. I would like to have a second search engine that just searches the portfolio section of the site based on industry categories: www.commonsensedesign.net/search-categories.htm. At the moment, the category search produces results from the whole site, not just the portfolio. Is there a way around this without having to put the portfolio pages in a separate directory? Many thanks, Nigel Gordijk Common Sense Design: User-focused Web design Tel: 001 519 342 5348 | Web: www.commonsensedesign.net

Hi Nigel, Thanks for the post! Search Engine is designed to look through all of the static HTML files that you have on your website. Because the files are searched on the server the way to separate them into categories is by putting them into folders for each individual category that you'd like to search. In the example you've outlined, to get all of the results that only relate to the "Portfolio" section of the site you would want to move these files to a /portfolio/ directory. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions or comments, just let me know! Cheers, Mike Briggs - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi Nigel, I just wanted to post to offer one more suggestion that may work for you. Another thing you could do when you create a new category for "Portfolio" is click on "files" once the category has been created. From there you can actually choose which folders/files to ignore so that Search Engine will only look at the files you tell it to. The only drawback with this is that each time you add a folder or file to the server that shouldn't be looked at you'll need to go in and set up Search Engine (and more specifically the "Portfolio" category) to ignore it. I hope with these two options one of them will work for you in getting the site set up the way you'd like. If you have any other questions or comments, just let me know!
