Hi, I use Search Engine version 1.11 I have received this message from my webhost. (see message below) Our website has approx 5,000 html pages. In response to this I have reduced the cache from 2mb to 100kb. And lowered Max Search Results from 200 to 10. Will this solve the problem...? If not, can you suggest anything.. Thanks. Jeff.............see message below ......Chris has asked me to drop you a note as it has come to his attention that the script 'search.cgi' is hogging the CPU on the server, sometimes upto 99%!! Which is causing all the other sites to temporarily pause for a minute or so. Chris has asked that you please disable it and look for another search script that is less "processor intensive"!

Hi Jeff, Thanks for your email. Search Engine has a recommended maximum of 500 pages, so as you can see you're quite far over that! While faster servers can certainly handle more, I think 5000 might be a little more than any server will be able to handle. What you can do is split up your content into different categories -- the 500 page limit only applies to each category. Because you have so many pages, you wouldn't be able to have a "default category" that searches everything (and we'd recommend removing the option to search "All Categories", as you'll run into the same problem) but if you can easily split up your site into different categories with less pages in them, this should solve the problem you're having nicely. :) Donna
