Just Purchased... Questions Can't Post

Just purchased and installed Search Engine and testing...

The searches seem s l o w ... [and I'm on a very fast connection]. Doesn't the script use an index?
[It's actually slower than the service provider [Atomz] we currently use.]

``````````````````````````````````````````````
As I change/remove content or change the Ignore List, changes are not reflected in the search results. Do I need to delete a cache or something?
``````````````````````````````````````````````
In the Ignore List... can I use wildcards? For example...

*splash*.* --- Would exclude splash_page.shtml
*.htm --- Would exclude page.htm

``````````````````````````````````````````````
Now, I'm not returning any results, on any search term. (?)
Re: [jmueller0823] Just Purchased... Questions [In reply to] Can't Post
Hi jmueller0823
Thanks again for posting.
The first search generally runs slower than the subsequent searches, due to the fact the index has not been built yet, so it may slow things down a bit. After that first search it should run much faster.
You have the ability to specify wildcards in the ignore list, and you don’t need to add the *.*. All you do is add the file prefix or file path that you want ignored. I always find it easier to modify the files in the Category Editor, where you can choose specific directories to ignore. Then I add the file prefixes to the ignore list.
You’ll want to check the permissions on the files in the data directory if your changes are not being reflected. All the files in the /data/ directory should be set to chmod 777
In the setup options you can specify what file types are searched, but if you are not returning any search results, check to see if your root directory is not in the ignore list.
I hope that all helps, but you if you need more details please don’t hesitate to post again Smile
