Can Search Engine rank and display search results? Can't Post

When I searched for the phrase "create an account", the search results displayed matching documents in the following order:

Create a New Sub-account for the Current Account ... Create a New Sub-account for the Current Account The information on this page applies to CircNet ...

Click here Main: (FAQ) Complete List ... report, why don't I see the supply for an Account I just added although I can see this supply in ... add a new Rate and then use the Rate to create an Account billing setup, why is the Rate displayed ...

Click here Create a Billing Setup for a Reduced Price Day ... Create a Billing Setup for a Reduced Price Day The information on this page applies to CircNet ... price day, you need to use the Create Account Billing Setup screen. NOTE A billing setup is ...

etc., etc.

The actual document I was looking for (i.e. Create an Account), and which would have been a perfect match for the phrase I entered in the Search field, was listed a dozen or so documents down the page. For obvious reasons, I would want the most relevant matching document to be displayed at the top, and not buried somewhere in the middle of the search results. Is there a way for me to rank search results?

Pliinc,

Thanks for the post. There is a built-in "ranking" system, but the sorting would be based on the same criteria that ranks the results.

The best way to strengthen results would be to ensure that your Description tags and Title tags are all very relevant, then increase the weight given to those elements. You could also do it through meta keywords, but you want to make sure you're not spamming keywords and risking your external search engine rank.

Let me know if you have any other questions! :)
