Sending new text in HTMLArea?

Is there a way to send 'text' into the current cursor location of HTMLArea (not just a seperate JavaScript call to modify the TextArea value)? I'd like to have a seperate link in another frame window insert HTML into the HTMLArea textarea. Eg: Frame 1: name=frame1 w/ textarea: name=textarea1 Frame 2: name=frame2 (opened by frame1) Link: Click Here to insert var_value

Hi servicefirst, Thanks for posting and welcome to the forum. I'm just looking for a few more details here. Are you working with Page Publisher and trying to set this up, or are you working on a separate page that includes HTMLArea? If you could let me know that would be great. Regards, Cliff Stefanuk - Customer Service Manager support@interactivetools.com

This question is for a page just using HTMLarea on it's own. If a user wants to have it insert, for example 'ABC' into the textarea at the cursor's location - what would be the javascript call? This would be a useful bit of info for sites that repeatedly use the same text (eg: the company, product name, or logo HTML) They could have a simple table of common codes, click and the code would be inserted!

Hi servicefirst, Thanks for the post and the additional details! Although htmlArea has been around for a while it became clear that the project wasn't progressing the way that it was intended, so we've decided to discontinue it. http://www.htmlarea.com has now been re-launched directory of WYSIWYG editors. So instead of being able to choose from just htmlArea, you'll have an entire directory of WYSIWYG editors to choose from. If you have any other questions please feel free to let me know! Cheers, Mike Briggs - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hi there, As Mike mentioned, we've discontinued htmlArea and do not support it. Take a look at htmlarea.com, which has been relaunched as a directory of WYSIWYG editors. :) Donna
