PP and TITLE tag

Just testing PP on a test server, and maybe I'm being a bit thick here, but the support documentation is a bit on the sparse side, and it's late! Trying to find a way to make the HTML TITLE tag editable, but when I wrap the title tag around the publish tag I get the full publish tag and contents appearing as the window title, and when I wrap the publish tag around the publish tag I get the HTML TITLE tag appearing in the content editor field. I'm using a textfield for this, is there another publish tag I can use that will either stop the publish tag appearing in the title, or the HTML tag appearing in the Editor field? Great product, but the documentation could do with some bulking up I feel!

Hi there! In the case of the Title tag, that's one "special" html tag that will display whatever is inside the tag in your address bar, as you've discovered. The solution in this case is to put the publish tag outside of the <title> tag, and simply make sure your users don't remove that when they're editing the title. Because web browsers don't ignore comments inside the title tag, it has to be treated a little differently than most. I hope this helps. :) Donna

I figured that was the only way out which is a shame because I know full well at some point my client will go and remove the title tags and then they'll be on the phone, something I'm hoping PP will help me avoid! Nevermind...

Hello, I seek a solution to publish the title of the page. The solution suggested in your answer posts tag <title>. Since 2004, there is a solution with this problem ? The other products (Article Manager...) have the same problem ? Thank you for your answer. Mick

Hi Mick, Thanks for the post! Because of the way Page Publisher works, and more specifically because of the way <title> tags work, the above solution is still the best way to take care of this in Page Publisher. All of our programs work a bit differently so it really depends what you're hoping to set up for the site. For example, with Article Manager, on the static file that is published for an article (for example, article_X.shtml) the <title> tag in the page will be populated with the name of the article. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions or comments, just let me know! Cheers, Mike Briggs - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
