Global Change to Admin Options

Hello there, Hee is an odd question for you. We are doing a wholesale replacement of our existing website. During testing we have set up a parallel site at "http://www2.rasc.ca". As I have built out the pages in Page Publisher I have two admin statements that use the "www2": /disc2/www2/... and http://www2.rasc.ca/... Question, is there a file somewhere that I can do a global search and replace on that will allow me to change "www2" to "www" when we go into production? This would save about 150 admin edits and a lot of time. Thanks! Denis Grey Royal Astronomical Society of Canada

Hi Denis, Thanks for the post! Are these changes that you have made to the Page Publisher admin files or to the actual webpages that you website uses? One thing you could do is open the pages in an HTML editor and do a search and replace for all instances of "www2". :) Does this help Denis? I will be happy to lend you a hand with any other questions that you may have. :) Cheers, Chet Woodside - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com

Hello Chet, Yes it is to update the Page Publisher admin files - I thought I made that clear in my original post. I don't want to change the admin options on 150 pages one by one when we cutover the site. None of the pages managed by Page Publisher actually refer to the www2 domain since relative addressing is used everywhere. Thanks! Denis.;

Hi Denis. Thanks for clearing that up! Changing the paths to all those files in Page Publisher would actually be a little tricky as the system is setup to work on one file at a time. It might actually be easier to just open up your page.dat file and do a search and replace in there. You’ll definitely want to have a backup just in case, but once in there, you should just need to find the part of the path that needs to change and replace all occurrences of that. This is definitely going to be more of an advanced thing so keep me up to date with how you are making out . ----------------------------------------------------------- Cheers, Ross Fairbairn - Product Specialist support@interactivetools.com
