Accents in textfield Tag vs accents in WYSIWYG area Can't Post

Hi

I'm a European user and having troubles with accents é, è ... in the textfield Tag of PP. These accents do not show correctly in the texfield Tag in the admin section (they're displayed correctly on the online page) but are showing well in the WYSIWYG area. So it's a bit confusing for the end user to display é or &egrave in the area.

Is there a way to solve this ?
To prevent, are there other Tags in PP which not support correctly the accents ?
Or is the WYSIWYG area the only place showing accents ?

Thanks and regards

Hi Patrick.

Thanks for posting!

I have been testing this out with an internal demo I have running and the accents and things are coming in just fine for me in a textfield.

Would you mind giving a me a step by step of what you are doing and what kind of field you setup on your page?

We'll get to the bottom of this so I look forward to hearing from you Smile.

Re: [ross] Accents in textfield Tag vs accents in WYSIWYG area [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Ross,

I attached below 2 print-screens oy little problem.

In dreamweaver mx 2004, I've set up the PP tag <!-- publish type="textfield" name="Titre Modelage"-->MODELAGE / MOULAGE ménage <!-- /publish --> . In Creation Mode in DW, we can see le word ménage , in the code mode, we can see ménage , it's fine, it's normal (1st image attached).

In fact, ménage appears in the code mode afer having entered ménage in the creation mode of DW. It's normal. But PP takes the code mode to show to the user in PP. Myabe the solution is to enter, in the code mode ménage , then I'll have <!-- publish type="textfield" name="Titre Modelage"-->MODELAGE / MOULAGE ménage <!-- /publish --> and i will work fine. But for me it's not logical toi enter words with accents in the code mode.

When I upload the page and access it in PP (see second image attached) the end user will not understand why he is seeing ménage instead of ménage.
I must add that in PP, if I change the é by é , the changing is working. No problem.

That is my problem, Ross.

Can you do something for the end user to see ménage in the appropriate field ? My main problem is that the user will see ménage instead of ménage, on any word contaning accents.

Thansk for your response.

Patrick

Hi Patrick.

Thanks for the screenshots!

I was trying this out with my internal demos and everything seemed to be running ok for me. I tried adding a character with an accent to a text field and it saved nicely and let me update again without the weird code in there. I then created a new field with that accented value already in it and that was loaded into Page Publisher for me just fine.

I am thinking the best thing to do here will be to go through a support request. You can fill out for me here:

From there, I can take a closer look right on your server. I know it isn't going to be anything major so as soon as I have taken a look, I'll be able to track down the solution for you Smile.
